Date Palm Festival — also known as Date Palm Tree Festival — is back at the Farmer’s Market in Hoorat A’ali this week. Open daily until this Saturday, August 2, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Entry is free, and there’s plenty lined up for families, food lovers, and anyone curious about local culture.
1. Sample a variety of Bahraini dates
From medjool to ajwa, tamars, and even stuffed dates, the festival is a celebration of one of Bahrain’s most important agricultural products. Vendors at the market will offer a wide selection of dates, and there are plenty of opportunities to taste and compare varieties.

2. Traditional crafts and cultural demonstrations
Visitors can stop by the productive family section to see basket weaving done by local artisans. These handmade palm products — including baskets, mats, and bags — are rooted in Bahraini heritage and are available to buy directly at the market.
3. Try date-based food and drinks
The event is also a chance to try date ice cream and date-flavoured juices, which will be available from food vendors throughout the market. If you’re looking for something to take home, head to the stalls offering date jams and sweets — ideal for baking, snacking, or gifting.

4. Activities and workshops for kids
Children up to age five can take part in games and cultural workshops designed to introduce them to the Kingdom’s traditions. Adults are welcome to join the hands-on craft sessions too.
