The 2025 Dhofar Khareef season in Salalah has officially begun with the launch of Ateen Square, a new cultural and entertainment hub serving as the centrepiece of this year’s festivities. Running until August 31, the venue welcomes both local and international guests with heritage events, modern entertainment, and family-friendly experiences.

Ateen Square features a central stage inspired by Dhofar’s mountain ranges. It’s fitted with laser projections, digital screens, and artificial waterfalls to support performances each evening. The square also welcomed the world’s largest inflatable amusement park, offering slides, obstacle courses, and bounce zones under staff supervision.

In addition to entertainment, Ateen Square supports local entrepreneurship. Small business stalls operated by Omani women sell traditional perfumes, handmade clothing, and frankincense products — highlighting the region’s cultural depth and commercial traditions.

Programming this season includes international shows and themed performances:

  • Galaxy Show – a mix of acrobatics, lighting effects, and futuristic costumes

  • Emoji Show – features digital-inspired characters aimed at young audiences

  • Got Talent-style stunt show, eco-friendly fireworks, and drone light displays

Cultural diversity is also on display with performances from a European carnival group, a traditional Mexican troupe, and acts curated by UNESCO. Special themed events like the Balloon Carnival and Peter Carnival add to the festive atmosphere with parades and choreographed street performances.

Another highlight this year is the debut of Culture and Literature Street, a public space dedicated to live poetry, painting sessions, and writing workshops. Visitors will be able to engage with Omani authors and artists.

The festival is one of Oman’s most distinctive annual experiences, drawing travellers from across the Gulf. If you’re planning a visit to Salalah this summer, read more about Dhofar Khareef.
