Looking ahead to the rest of 2025, UAE residents have plenty of opportunities to plan some well-deserved time off. While exact public holiday dates are subject to moon sightings (especially for Islamic holidays), there’s already a good outline of when you can expect your next break.

In total, UAE residents have at least 12 public holidays this year — and with some clever planning around weekends, you could stretch those into even longer escapes.

Earlier this year, new public holiday law also came into effect: if a non-Eid public holiday falls on a weekend, the day off can now be shifted to a working day. (Important to note: this rule doesn’t apply to Eid holidays.)

4-day long weekend for Eid Al Adha (June 5 – June 8)

The next big long weekend is expected for Eid Al Adha, predicted to fall between Thursday, June 5 and Sunday, June 8. That’s another four-day weekend to look forward to — a perfect mid-year break.

3-day long weekend for The Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (September 5)

A three-day weekend is on the cards for Friday, September 5. This holiday celebrates the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday and, depending on moon sightings, could slightly shift by a day or two.

While these dates are provisional, most public holidays tied to Islamic events will be confirmed a few days before based on moon observations. Still, now’s a good time to start sketching out those dream trips or staycations.
