Kuwaitis can look forward to a long New Year’s break, as the Kuwaiti Cabinet has announced an extended four-day weekend to usher in 2025. According to the decree, government offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 1, and Thursday, January 2, 2025.

This special arrangement ensures Thursday, January 2, becomes a bridging day off, falling between New Year’s Day on Wednesday and the regular weekend on Friday and Saturday. Government operations will resume as usual on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

This decision aligns with Kuwait’s tradition of declaring additional holidays to create extended weekends, fostering a festive atmosphere and allowing residents more time to celebrate or relax with loved ones. However, institutions with critical roles may adjust their schedules to maintain essential services.

Private sector employees are encouraged to check with their respective organizations for their specific holiday schedules, as the announcement primarily pertains to government institutions.
