Kuwait has officially declared the Eid Al Adha public holiday, giving residents a long break this June. The Council of Ministers has announced that the country will observe a public holiday from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8, 2025. Following the extended holiday, Monday, June 9 will be a rest day, with work resuming on Tuesday, June 10.

The break covers the Day of Arafat — a significant day of reflection and fasting that precedes Eid — and Eid Al Adha, one of the most important occasions in the Islamic calendar. According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, Eid Al Adha is expected to fall on Friday, June 6, based on predictions about the lunar calendar.

Astronomers anticipate the crescent moon marking the start of Dhu Al Hijjah (the 12th and final month in the Islamic calendar) will be visible on May 27, making May 28 the first day of the month. This would set the Day of Arafah on June 5, followed by Eid Al Adha the next day.

The declaration gives people in Kuwait a five-day break on June 5-9, which many are likely to use for travel, time with family, or religious observance.
