Drivers must be focused on many things when hitting the road, but now there’s a bit more to keep in mind when driving in Abu Dhabi. Starting Monday, February 9, the speed limits on three of the capital’s busiest roads will be lowered, so make sure you adjust accordingly.
- Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road (E22)
The limit will drop from 160 km/h to 140 km/h between Al Nahda Interchange and Bani Yas Interchange, in both directions.
- The Bani Yas Interchange area
Reduction from 140 km/h to 120 km/h all the way to the Bridge Complex.
- Al Rawdah Road (E30)
Limit lowered from 120 km/h to 100 km/h.

There have been several other speed limit changes in Abu Dhabi in 2025 that drivers need to know about. In April, the speed limits were reduced on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E11) and the Abu Dhabi to Sweihan Road (E20). Check the details here.
That same month, the minimum speed limit was also removed on E311 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road.
In October 2025, a variable speed limit system was introduced on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, where speeds now change depending on factors like weather conditions.
