Masfout has officially been named one of the Best Tourism Villages in the World for 2025 by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism). Set among the Hajar Mountains, this picturesque mountain village in Ajman has long been a favorite getaway for those seeking fresh air, scenic drives, and a glimpse of traditional Emirati life. Now, it’s earning international praise for preserving its natural charm while developing tourism.
Out of more than 270 applicants from around the world, just 52 villages made the list this year, and Masfout is the only one from the GCC region. It now stands alongside stunning rural destinations in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Japan, Brazil, and beyond.

Launched in 2021, “Best Tourism Villages” initiative celebrates destinations that set the standard for sustainable travel while protecting cultural heritage and improving local livelihoods. Villages are evaluated on key factors like environmental sustainability, social and economic impact, tourism development, and cultural preservation.
If you’re planning a visit to the Emirates soon, make sure to explore Masfout and see firsthand why it’s considered one of the world’s best. It’s a short drive from Hatta, another popular destination in the UAE. Recently, Hatta unveiled new sand equestrian track, offering horse riders a scenic outdoor experience surrounded by breathtaking desert landscapes. And for those who prefer a relaxed day out, Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project is expanding with new retail spaces and restaurants coming soon.
