Starting January 27, Abu Dhabi drivers can look forward to smoother and safer commutes, thanks to new traffic regulations targeting heavy vehicles. These restrictions aim to ease congestion and enhance road safety during peak hours, making daily travel more manageable.

Here’s what’s changing: heavy vehicles, including trucks and tankers, will face restrictions during key traffic periods.

On weekdays (Monday to Thursday), these vehicles will be prohibited from 6:30 AM to 9 AM and from 3 PM to 7 PM. On Fridays, the restricted hours will shift slightly, running from 6:30 AM to 9 AM and then again from 11 AM to 1 PM.

The goal of this initiative is twofold: reducing traffic jams and minimizing the strain on Abu Dhabi’s road infrastructure. With heavy vehicles contributing significantly to congestion, these changes are expected to improve the flow of traffic and align with similar measures already implemented in other emirates.

So, whether you’re commuting to work, heading to school, or running errands, you might soon experience a faster, less stressful journey across the city.
