Kalba, a charming town nestled within the Hajar Mountains in Sharjah, is set to become a hub of culture and adventure with a series of new projects recently announced by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah.

The ‘Kalba Gate’ Project

A highlight of the new developments is the ‘Kalba Gate’ project, a stunning pathway connecting the scenic hanging gardens to the serene Al Hefaiyah Lake. This walkway, equipped with safety railings, will provide visitors with breathtaking views of the gardens, the lake, and the entire city of Kalba from above.

A Museum Celebrating Heritage

In addition to the ‘Kalba Gate,’ a new museum is being established to showcase Kalba’s rich heritage. This museum will offer a deep dive into the region’s customs, traditions, and folk songs, giving visitors a comprehensive understanding of the local culture. It promises to be an enriching experience for anyone interested in the history and heritage of Kalba.

Reviving Khor Kalba Fort

The historic Khor Kalba Fort, which has suffered from flood damage, will also see a new lease on life. A park will be developed around the fort, not only to protect and restore this significant site but also to provide a peaceful environment for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Moon-Shaped Project on Jebel Deem

Kalba is also set to get an innovative, moon-shaped structure on Jebel Deem, about 850 meters above sea level. This two-story marvel will offer stunning views of the mountains, valleys, and coast. The first floor will feature a restaurant, an open café, and a reading room, while the ground floor will house viewing platforms, a multipurpose hall, and a prayer room.

Green Initiatives and New Stadium

To improve the region’s natural beauty further, over 4,500 trees, including olive, pomegranate, grape, and apple, are being planted in the mountains, turning them lush and green. Additionally, a new football stadium for Kalba Club is being constructed 850 feet above sea level to reduce humidity and improve playing conditions for athletes, with an expected temperature difference of about 10°C.

A Hub for Environmental and Heritage Tourism

An environmental, archaeological, and heritage tourism program tailored to Kalba’s unique characteristics will also be launched soon. This program aims to leverage the city’s natural and historical assets, fostering sustainable tourism that benefits both the environment and the local economy.

With these exciting new projects, Kalba is set to become an even more attractive destination, blending its rich cultural heritage with the magic of its natural landscapes.
