The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced significant changes to its visa-on-arrival policy, making it easier for Indian nationals to visit the country. Previously, only Indian citizens holding valid residence visas for the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union nations could benefit from the visa-on-arrival service. However, the latest update from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has expanded eligibility to include Indian nationals with valid tourist visas for the UK and EU, offering broader access and more flexibility.
Key Eligibility Criteria for Visa-On-Arrival for Indians
Under this new rule, Indian nationals must ensure their passports and tourist visas for the US, UK, or EU are valid for at least six months from their intended entry date into the UAE. This is essential to qualify for visa-on-arrival.
Visa Types, Fees, and Stay Duration
Indian travelers who meet the eligibility criteria can now opt for an extended stay in the UAE with a 60-day visa available for AED 250. This longer duration provides tourists and business visitors more time to explore or manage business dealings in the country. For shorter visits, a 14-day visa is available for AED 100. If travelers decide to extend their stay, an additional 14 days can be added for a fee of AED 250.
Strengthening UAE-India Relations
This policy change reflects the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its ties with India, one of its key economic and tourism partners. With nearly 3.5 million Indian expatriates living in the UAE and India being the UAE’s largest trade partner, this move is expected to boost tourism and facilitate more business exchanges between the two nations.
The UAE has also been introducing various visa reforms recently, such as the 5-year multi-entry tourist visa, which allows multiple visits with stays of up to 90 days at a time. These progressive steps highlight the UAE’s efforts to enhance its attractiveness as a global destination and business hub.
