If you’ve got decade-old traffic fines in Sharjah, there’s good news. The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has announced a decision to waive all traffic violations that are more than 10 years old, provided they meet certain conditions.

The announcement was made during a recent SEC meeting chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the Council.

Who Qualifies for Traffic Fine Waiving?

According to the decision, traffic violations recorded by Sharjah Police will be dropped if:

  • At least 10 years have passed since the date of the violation
  • The fine has remained unpaid during that period

This applies to eligible cases only, as recorded by the Sharjah Police General Command. To apply for the waiver, there is a mandatory fee of AED 1,000.

Certain cases are exempt from this AED 1,000 fee:

  • If the vehicle owner has passed away, with verified documentation
  • If the vehicle owner has left the country continuously for at least 10 years
  • If the vehicle has been abandoned and the owner cannot be located

Anyone considering applying for the waiver is encouraged to contact Sharjah Police or relevant government channels for further information on documentation and eligibility.
