Abu Dhabi has taken another step toward autonomous urban mobility with the expansion of its self-driving taxi service, TXAI, to include Zayed International Airport. The new route connects the airport with Yas and Saadiyat Islands, further building out the emirate’s smart transport network.
The announcement was made by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) under Abu Dhabi Mobility, and supports the emirate’s strategy to make 25% of all trips driverless by 2040.

Launched in 2021, TXAI has already logged more than 30,000 trips, covering 430,000 kilometres without any reported traffic incidents. The airport extension marks a significant milestone for the programme, helping connect major residential and tourist hubs with one of the region’s busiest air travel gateways.
According to Abu Dhabi Mobility, autonomous transport is expected to contribute to:
- 15% reduction in carbon emissions
- 18% reduction in traffic accidents

The new expansion to Zayed International Airport is part of a larger effort to integrate AI-driven solutions into daily mobility, with a strong focus on sustainability, safety, and urban efficiency.
