Riyadh Season is returning with a bang, with new events being announced every day. An exciting addition is the UFC Power Slap, which will be making its debut in Saudi Arabia on February 1, 2025.

What is Power Slap?

If you’re unfamiliar with Power Slap, the name says it all. This sport is all about power and precision, where two competitors go head-to-head in a series of slaps—yes, slaps.

The goal is simple: deliver the hardest, most accurate slap to knock down your opponent. But there’s more to it than just brute strength. Each match is structured and follows specific rules to ensure the safety and fairness of the competition.

Participants must be at least 18 years old to compete, and the matches are limited to a maximum of 10 rounds. Safety is paramount, so all competitors are required to wear mouthguards and inner ear protectors.

A coin toss kicks off each round to decide who gets to slap first, and the slaps must be flat, open-handed strikes to the side of the face. Both feet must remain on the ground while striking; a minor lift results in a foul.

If a contestant is knocked down, they have a 10-count to stand up and continue, or it’s considered a knockout.
