Dubai’s iconic La Mer beach area is currently undergoing a significant redevelopment project, transforming the popular waterfront destination into an even more vibrant and alluring hotspot.

The redevelopment initiative, which commenced late last year, originally focused on La Mer South, with plans to keep La Mer Central and La Mer North untouched.

However, recent updates indicate that the entire La Mer complex is now slated for demolition and redevelopment, promising an exciting new era for visitors and residents alike.

La Mer Demolition Updates

Late last year, construction activities commenced in La Mer, and it was initially announced that only La Mer South would be redeveloped.

However, recent developments reveal that La Mer Central and La Mer North are also slated for demolition, suggesting a more comprehensive transformation of the entire beach area. Several beloved establishments, including Roxy Cinemas, Sugar Factory, Argentina Grill, Aprons and Hammers, Falla, Sephora, Virgin Megastores, Pinkberry, and others, have closed their doors as a result.

The much-loved Laguna Waterpark also closed down earlier in March due to construction.

La Mer Redevelopment Plans

The redevelopment efforts at La Mer are set to reshape the landscape and enhance the beach experience for both residents and tourists.

J1 Beach, the replacement for the former La Mer South, is progressing rapidly and is expected to open its doors by the end of 2023. This ambitious project aims to introduce three beach clubs and ten licensed restaurants, providing visitors with an array of dining and leisure options in a stunning coastal setting.
