Gurdas Mann is considered a living legend, by fans of Punjabi music. Maan is an actor and widely celebrated and respected singer-songwriter of Punjabi music who made his debut in the 1980s in a career that gave us over 200 songs over 30 albums. Since then, his fan following was not restricted to Punjabis, but people from all walks of life who adored his singing, energy and heart. Maan was also known to get into a bit of controversy every now and again, primarily due to the sensitive topics he would write about in his songs. Sensitive, yet highly relevant to social issues that needed addressing, such as rampant drug abuse, local farmer issues, amongst many others.
As a performer, Maan’s gigs are known for their high energy and Punjabi style, although most songs would have a good mix of Indian and Western influences. Maan is one of an elite few Indian performers who have had the honour to perform at some of the most distinguished venues in the world. To name a few, the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena in the UK and Madison Square Garden in New York.
