Some things in Dubai have changed beyond recognition over the past 30 years. The Laughter Factory, thankfully, has remained very good at one thing: putting brilliant comedians in front of a live audience.
When the club staged its first comedy night at the Hyatt Regency Deira, professional stand-up was still something of a novelty in the Middle East. Fast-forward 30 years and comedy is firmly part of the region's entertainment scene — with The Laughter Factory still packing out rooms across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
And if you've been going to Laughter Factory shows over the years, you'll know the appeal. It's not just about watching a comedian perform. It's the atmosphere of a proper comedy night: a room full of people laughing together, comedians feeding off the audience and the occasional moment that could never have happened anywhere other than live.
Over the years, the club has brought an extraordinary roll call of comedians to the Gulf, from Russell Peters, Vir Das and Kevin Bridges to Michael McIntyre, Jason Manford, Micky Flanagan, Frankie Boyle, Jack Whitehall and Dara Ó Briain.
Some arrived already well known. Others were on their way up. The common denominator was simple: they were comedians worth seeing.
That remains the case today.
The November line-up brings together a mix of international experience, local comedy favourites and newer voices — proof that there is still plenty of comedy talent worth discovering.
John Fothergill has spent decades headlining comedy venues around the world, with appearances on Live at the Comedy Store and the Little Britain Live and Ed Byrne tours among his many credits.
Valentina is an Italian comedian, musician and producer who won Survival of the Funniest in 2023 and turns the realities of motherhood and life in Dubai into comedy.
Tabarak is a familiar face on Dubai's comedy circuit, having won competitions including the Short & Sweet Comedy Festival, Espana Comedy Games and Beat The Camel.
Nicole Drinkwater has built an online audience of more than 20 million viewers and is now bringing her sharp, satirical comedy from the screen to the live stage.
Ahmad is a Filipino bilingual comedian based in the UAE who has performed for Forbes Middle East, hosted Abu Dhabi Comedy Week and regularly performs across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

“A top comedy turn and a right funny bloke…………THE SUN
One of the best things about watching live comedy is seeing a comedian finally find their comic voice. Some comics never find it, but when one does, there's no mistaking it. Suddenly, that ordinary bloke behind the mic becomes a cartoon version of himself. Everything he says is funny, and anything that happens to him is more material for his act. It's partly about finding out who you really are, and how the punters really see you, but the main part remains a mystery. Yet whatever that mystery consists of, John Fothergill has just found it. He's always been a solid comic, but now he looks like he was born on stage, under a follow spot, with a mic in his hand.
He started out in showbiz in a band called One Hand One Heart, managed by Chas Chandler of Slade,
Animals and Jimi Hendrix fame. They were signed by Epic, then Sony, and after they were dropped, he went to work on a gas rig. It's my guess that this cocktail of toil and rock'n'roll is what made him a comic. See for yourself.

Valentina
Valentina Danubio is an Italian stand-up comedian from Sicily, based in Dubai since 2015, with a growing audience of 75K+ followers on Instagram. She began her stand-up career in 2023 and quickly made her mark, winning Survival of the Funniest just six months later.
Since then, she has performed across the UAE and internationally, appearing regularly at The Laughter Factory and Pepperoni Comedy Club, and performing as part of Abu Dhabi Comedy Season alongside international comedians. She has also performed in Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Italy, sharing the stage with acts including Netflix-featured comedian Robby Collins.
Valentina is also a driving force behind Italian-language comedy in the region, co-producing and performing Italian comedy shows in Dubai. Her comedy is sharp, personal and unapologetically relatable, drawing on life as an Italian working mother in the Middle East, with material about family, marriage, motherhood, body image, work and cultural differences. She also incorporates ukulele into selected comedy bits, adding a playful musical twist to her stand-up.

Born in Karachi and living in Dubai, TABARAK has unique and highly skewed opinions on the things he observes on a daily basis.
His quick wit, charisma, and ferociously aggressive style of comedy have made him a staple of Dubai’s local comedy circuit. He is one of the winners of the Short & Sweet Comedy Festival, Espana Comedy Games and Beat The Camel, to name a few.
Nicole Drinkwater
Nicole Drinkwater is a British comedian and content creator, part of a new wave of performers bridging the gap between online and live comedy. Having built a following of over 500,000 through her sharp, satirical take on modern life, she represents a rare hybrid of digital influence and on-stage performance.
Originally working as a personal trainer, Nicole began creating content during the pandemic, quickly gaining traction for her bold, unfiltered voice and distinctive comedic style. What started as short-form online content evolved into a rapidly growing platform, with her work resonating with a wide audience drawn to her honesty, relatability, and willingness to push boundaries.
Following challenges with platform restrictions and having to rebuild parts of her audience, Nicole developed a strong and loyal community, further refining her voice and creative direction. This ability to adapt and evolve has become a defining part of her journey, shaping the perspective she now brings to her comedy.
With a clear and established presence online, Nicole has since transitioned into stand-up, bringing that same energy and authenticity to the stage. Her material blends observational comedy with personal storytelling, delivered with confidence, edge, and a natural ability to connect with audiences in the moment.
Now performing regularly across Dubai’s comedy circuit, Nicole is quickly building a reputation as a compelling and dynamic new act. Her background in content creation gives her a unique understanding of modern audiences, allowing her to bridge the gap between digital and live performance in a way that feels fresh, relevant, and engaging.
