Biography & Career:
Mr. V is a New York DJ, producer and vocalist who has spent more than two decades as one of the most respected voices in house music. Born Victor Font, the artist grew up in a Nuyorican family on the Lower East Side during the mid-1980s, surrounded by disco, Latin music, early hip hop and the first wave of house.
The turning point came at the Underground Network parties of Louie Vega, who spotted the young talent and brought the newcomer into the Masters At Work camp as an assistant. That apprenticeship shaped a sound that blends house with hip hop, jazz and Latin rhythms. In 2004 the producer launched the Sole Channel Music label, later adding Muzik 4 Tomorrow, and the debut album followed on Defected in 2006, with one track climbing to number 2 on the UK Dance Chart.
Few artists in the scene cover every role at once: DJing, producing, songwriting and singing. Defected founder Simon Dunmore once described the New Yorker as a triple threat, and collaborations with Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Fedde Le Grand, Bob Sinclar, Mark Knight, Steve Bug and Roger Sanchez have carried that signature vocal into clubs worldwide. One early anthem in particular has become a staple of countless DJ sets.
A Mister V DJ set is famously unpredictable, moving from deep grooves to soulful vocals and classic edits, which is why crowds keep coming back for DJ Mr V. New upcoming events appear regularly in New York and on dancefloors around the world. Personal life stays mostly private, and the focus remains firmly on the music.
