If you’re planning to travel through Dubai International Airport (DXB) during Eid Al Fitr, get ready for a busy time! With a five-day holiday for many in Dubai’s public and private sectors, thousands are taking advantage of the long weekend for a quick getaway.

How Busy Will DXB Be during Eid Al Fitr?

Dubai International Airport expects to welcome over 3.6 million passengers between March 26 and April 7. The peak travel day is expected to be Saturday, April 5, with more than 309,000 travelers passing through the airport.

This surge in passengers is not just because of Eid celebrations. Many schools in key travel markets like India, Pakistan, and the UK are also on break. Popular travel destinations include Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Italy, while Dubai itself is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors from the GCC region.

How to Avoid Delays at DXB

Airport officials are urging travelers to plan ahead and take the following steps to avoid long wait times:

  • Arrive early: Allow plenty of time for check-in, security checks, and boarding.
  • Use the Dubai Metro: Skip traffic and take the Metro to and from the airport, especially if you’re traveling between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
  • Check for transport updates: The Terminal 1 bus stop has been out of service since February 21, so plan an alternative if needed. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will keep bus schedules updated.

  • Track flights in real-time: Use DXB Express Maps, a handy online tool that provides live flight updates. Simply scan the QR code on any flight information screen at the airport.
  • Check-in early: Avoid the last-minute rush by checking in online, at the airport, or even at the Emirates store in DIFC if you’re flying with Emirates.

Emirates has also warned that its busiest days will be March 28 and March 29, when over 80,000 passengers are expected to fly with the airline. If you’re traveling with Emirates, arrive extra early to avoid delays.

With careful planning, you can navigate the Eid rush smoothly and enjoy a stress-free journey. Safe travels!
