Saudi Arabia’s hospitality sector continues to expand, and this time, the spotlight is on Abha. The scenic city in the Aseer mountains is set to welcome a major name in luxury hospitality: Waldorf Astoria Abha. The announcement, shared by ARDARA — an investment firm backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) — marks a milestone for the region’s tourism ambitions.

The upcoming hotel will be part of AlWadi, a newly unveiled lifestyle community by ARDARA. The development aims to create a year-round destination that blends upscale living with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Waldorf Astoria Abha is expected to include 180 keys and will cater to travellers looking for comfort, nature, and a slower pace of luxury.

AlWadi itself is positioned as a mixed-use community, combining hospitality, residential, and retail elements. Alongside the hotel, plans include 82 branded apartments and villas, premium shops, and public spaces such as walking trails and cycling paths.

The entire project is designed to align with the area’s cool climate and mountainous views — offering an alternative to Saudi Arabia’s more desert-oriented destinations.

This expansion fits neatly into Hilton’s broader strategy to grow its presence in the Kingdom, especially beyond major hubs like Riyadh and Jeddah. It’s also in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to diversify its tourism offerings and promote sustainable travel across different regions.

As Abha prepares for this next chapter in luxury tourism, Waldorf Astoria Residences are on the way in Abu Dhabi. Stay tuned for more updates on both openings as the region’s hospitality scene continues to grow.
