Ahead of Eid Al Adha, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued a directive to release 985 prisoners from Dubai’s correctional and punitive institutions.
The decision includes inmates of various nationalities and is part of a wider initiative marking the upcoming holiday. According to Dubai’s Attorney General, Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, the order aims to support the reintegration of these individuals into society and to ease the burden on their families during this time.
Al Humaidan added that Dubai Public Prosecution is working with Dubai Police to carry out the necessary legal steps to ensure the release process moves forward efficiently. This action falls within broader efforts to provide second chances for inmates who have demonstrated good conduct while serving their sentences.
