Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with Emaar Properties, has announced a large-scale expansion of the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station. The upgrade aims to accommodate increasing footfall during peak periods such as New Year’s Eve, public holidays, and major national events.
The expansion will involve:
- Wider platforms and concourses for easier movement
- More escalators and elevators to ease vertical circulation
- Separate entry and exit gates to streamline passenger flow
- More fare gates to reduce queuing
- Extended pedestrian bridges and entrances

Since its opening in 2010, the Burj Khalifa-Dubai Mall Metro Station has seen steady passenger growth. The number of users reached over 10.57 million in 2024 alone — an average of nearly 58,000 passengers daily.
The upcoming expansion is designed to keep pace with the city’s fast growth and support smoother travel experiences for residents and visitors.

- Passenger capacity will increase by 65%, allowing the station to serve up to 220,000 people per day
- The station’s area will grow from 6,700 sqm to 8,500 sqm
- Hourly capacity will rise from 7,250 to 12,320 passengers
