If you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with the family, Expo City Dubai has got you covered with Guardians of Water Festival. This indoor event is all about celebrating our planet’s most precious resource — water. Running over two weekends, August 30-31 and September 6-7, the festival will spark curiosity and inspire action through immersive experiences that both kids and adults can enjoy.

The event takes place at Terra, the Sustainability Pavilion at Expo City. This unique venue will be the backdrop for a range of activities focused on water conservation, including storytelling, workshops, and interactive displays.

Tickets for the festival are AED 50, and kids under 12 get in for free!

Here’s what you can expect during Guardians of Water Festival at Expo City Dubai:

  • Storytelling Sessions

Kathy Urban and Beverly Jatwani will take you on colourful adventures that bring water conservation to life through their engaging stories. Sessions will be held at 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM on both weekends, with Beverly also leading a special session at 1:30 PM on August 30.

  • Hands-on Workshops

There will be plenty of activities to get involved in, including learning how to build a traditional Falaj irrigation system, experimenting with water filtration, and playing fun games like Freshwater Heroes Bingo. There’s even a creative colouring session to let the kids’ imaginations run wild.

  • Heritage Corner

For those interested in learning more, check out the Heritage Corner to discover how desalination technology turns seawater into fresh water, and learn how camels manage to survive in the UAE’s harsh, water-scarce environment.

  • Guided Tours

Visitors can also enjoy guided indoor tours that begin with a walk through a recreation of the UAE’s traditional Falaj irrigation system. The tour continues into the Laboratory of Future Values, where you’ll see innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges.

This festival is a great way to engage with your kids while teaching them about the importance of water conservation and sustainability in a fun and interactive way.

This November, Expo City will give you another good reason to come back. Light Art Festival Dhai Dubai will return for its second edition with light installations and art. Make sure to keep an eye out for more details on this exciting event.
