GITEX Global 2025 is underway this week, bringing together the latest in technology and innovation. Among one of the biggest announcements so far – Trackless Tram, latest innovation in smart mobility by Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The tram operates without fixed tracks, following virtual routes using optical navigation, GPS, and LiDAR.
Here are the first details about Trackless Tram and its features:
- Capacity up to 300 passengers
- Operational speeds from 25 to 60 km/h, with a top speed of 70 km/h
- Fully electric, with single-charge range of up to 100 km
The tram will initially be deployed at eight locations in Dubai. Unlike traditional trams, it runs on virtual tracks, guided by cameras that follow painted lines on dedicated lanes. The Trackless Tram will integrate with Dubai’s existing advanced public transport network.
If you’re interested in Dubai’s next-generation transport options, keep an eye on air taxis launching in the city in 2026.
GITEX Global 2025 is happening this week at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Dubai Harbour, so we can expect more announcements on the latest creations in AI, IoT, and smart technologies. In 2026, GITEX will move to its new home at Expo City Dubai, promising even larger displays of cutting-edge innovation.
