Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made traveling around the city even easier. If you use the metro, your rides on feeder buses are now free — as long as your whole trip stays within the same zone.
In simple terms, if you take a feeder bus to reach the metro and then another one to get back to your starting point, you’ll only pay once. The fare is charged when you first tap in, and you won’t be charged again for your return ride within that same area.
Dubai Metro’s network is divided into seven zones, and fares are calculated based on how many zones you travel through.

Here’s the list of 7 metro zones:
- Zone 1: Jebel Ali Industrial, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Techno Park, Dubai Investment Park, and Dubai World Central
- Zone 2: Umm Suqeim, Al Barsha, Emirates Hills, and part of Jebel Ali Industrial
- Zone 3: Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Jumeirah South Village, Al Barsha South, and Al Merkadh
- Zone 4: Nad Al Sheba, Mirdif, Al Khawaneej, and Al Muhaisnah
- Zone 5: Gold Souk, Al Mamzar, Al Qusais, and Al Rashidiya
- Zone 6: Al Ghubaiba, Al Satwa, Al Karama, and Al Jafiliya
- Zone 7: Al Awir, Warsan, Lehbab, and Dubai Land
For those who regularly travel by metro, this is definitely a game changer! It’s another small upgrade that makes getting around Dubai more cost-effective. And the good news doesn’t stop here! As RTA celebrates 20 years of operations, it prepared a variety of deals, surprises, and gifts for passengers, which will last for the entire month.
