Al Jazeera Al Hamra Souq, once a bustling trading hub in Ras Al Khaimah, has found new life with a fresh purpose. Nestled on the northern tip of a former island, this historic marketplace was once the heart of commercial activity, just steps away from the coastline. Today, it’s becoming a creative space where art and culture take center stage.

The Souq has been restored and now became a home to the works of local artisans. There are 13 unique shops offering eco-friendly crafts, handmade jewelry, photography, and contemporary art. This transformation, supported by the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation, marks a significant shift in how the area celebrates its heritage.

Tariq Ibrahim Al Salman, founder of Design Gallery, sees The Souq as the future of Ras Al Khaimah’s artistic scene. He calls it “RAK Art Street,” a place where artists and visitors can connect, learn, and inspire each other.

The Souq reopened its doors on November 7 and welcomes visitors throughout the winter season. If you’re curious about the cultural revival happening in Ras Al Khaimah, this is a place worth checking out.

It’s impressive to witness how the emirate embraces its rich traditions while welcoming new developments, like the luxurious resorts at Al Marjan Island. Check out some of the most outstanding projects: Janu Al Marjan Island, Fairmont, NH Collection, and of course, gorgeous Wynn Al Marjan Island.

Stay tuned for more updates, events, and news from Ras Al Khaimah, where the past and future come together!
