Okay… this is one of those shows that instantly puts you in a good mood. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is landing at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi from 28 August to 6 September, and it’s basically your excuse to do something fun that isn’t “let’s just go for dinner again.”
This is the new musical based on Roald Dahl’s iconic story, and it’s full of that magical, slightly chaotic Wonka energy we all grew up with.
First: it’s not a simple stage show. This production leans hard into the wow factor with special effects and cutting-edge hologauze 3D technology, so the factory actually feels alive around you. Like… you’re watching theatre, but your brain is going “how are they doing that?!”
Second: the music. It features iconic songs from the classic Hollywood film featuring Johnny Depp, including: “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man,” and “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket.” So even if you haven’t watched the movie in years, you’ll still catch yourself smiling the second those songs start.

Charlie is a sweet kid from a humble family, and he ends up winning a Golden Ticket to enter Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. A few other kids get in too… and let’s just say not everyone handles the “rules” of the factory very well.
And of course, you’ll meet the legendary Oompa-Loompas, popping up with their unforgettable songs, sharp little lessons, and that mischievous energy that makes the whole story even more fun to watch live.
