If your usual gym routine has started to feel a bit repetitive, a new fitness challenge in Dubai might shake things up. DEKA FIT, created by the team behind the well-known Spartan Race events, is scheduled to take place on March 28 at Skydive Dubai.

The format combines running and functional workouts in a way that keeps participants constantly moving. Competitors move through a course made up of 10 fitness zones. Between each zone is a 500-m run (5km in total), so participants alternate between cardio and strength challenges. You can choose to compete alone or take part as a two-person team.

If you want to know what’s waiting for you on the course, here’s the list of the 10 DEKA FIT zones:

  • Zone 1: 30 RAM alternating reverse lunges
  • Zone 2: 500 m row
  • Zone 3: 20 box jump or step overs
  • Zone 4: 25 medicine ball sit-up throws
  • Zone 5: 500 m SkiErg
  • Zone 6: 100 m farmer’s carry
  • Zone 7: 25 calorie air bike
  • Zone 8: 20 dead ball wall overs
  • Zone 9: 100 m sled push and pull
  • Zone 10: 20 RAM burpees

Before the main event on March 28, several DEKA STRONG Roadshow sessions in Dubai will give the chance to experience the style of workouts used in the competition:

  • Friday, March 13 at TK27 Gym in Al Sufouh. The session runs from 7 PM until 11 PM
  • Saturday, March 14 at Spirit Level Gym in Al Quoz. This session begins at 7 AM and continues until 1:30 PM

For anyone curious about trying a new kind of fitness challenge, DEKA FIT in Dubai this March could be an interesting way to step outside the usual workout routine.
