Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly important part of Saudi Arabia’s future plans. The Kingdom has announced that 2026 will be the Year of Artificial Intelligence, a nationwide initiative focused on strengthening its role in data and AI development.
The announcement was made by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
SDAIA also revealed the official logo for the Year of Artificial Intelligence. It combines several elements that reflect both Saudi identity and the country’s growing focus on technology:
- The palm tree, symbolising vitality, growth, and generosity
- The letters “AI,” referring to the country’s focus on advanced technologies
- The dot above the letter “I,” designed as a fruit, representing renewal, life, and continuous growth

To accompany the initiative, official hashtags have been introduced: Arabic version #عام_الذكاء_الاصطناعي and English version #SaudiAIYear.
By designating 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence, the country is highlighting its ongoing work in the field and its ambition to become a global destination for data and AI innovation.
The country’s growing focus on this area is already visible through several new initiatives and projects being developed. One of them is HUMAIN Chat, Saudi Arabia’s first conversational AI platform that work in both Arabic and English. If you’re interested in learning more about it, you can read the full story here.
