If you’ve already done the museum runs, the Souq Waqif standard tour, and the dhow cruise, this isn’t another version of those lists. These are the spots we keep coming back to, the ones friends ask about after a Doha visit, and the new places to visit in Doha that haven’t quite landed on every guide yet. Some are hidden gems in Doha, Qatar that locals know but visitors don’t. Others are newer additions to the food and lifestyle scene that have built genuine followings.

If you’re looking for unique things to do in Doha or simply trying to find cool places in Doha beyond the obvious landmarks, this list moves past the usual recommendations and into the places people actually return to.

Try the ice cream from Dar AlSalam

Some places earn their reputation slowly, and Dar AlSalam is one of them. As the oldest ice cream shop in Qatar, it’s been part of Doha’s food memory for generations. The flavours stay close to the classics (saffron, pistachio, rose), the textures are denser than the Italian-style scoops you’ll find elsewhere in the city, and the experience itself is the appeal, a piece of Qatari food heritage that hasn’t been polished into something else.

If you want to taste a spot that genuinely matters to locals, this is one of the more underrated places to keep on your list.

Experience the teddy at White Foam Cafe

White Foam Cafe has built one of the strongest visual identities in Doha’s cafe scene, and the teddy bear that comes perched on top of certain drinks is the part that ended up on every Reels feed. The drinks themselves hold up too, beyond the photo moment, the menu carries some of the best drinks in Doha across the cafe scale, with strong matcha and creative flavour combinations.

It’s one of those spots that actually manages to back up the hype once you sit down and order.

Indulge in a chimney cone

The chimney cone (trdelník) was one of those things you used to need a Prague holiday to try. Doha’s version is now firmly in the city’s dessert scene, no Europe trip needed, with The Chimney Cone Cafe serving warm, sugar-coated rolled pastries filled with ice cream, Nutella, or seasonal cream toppings.

It’s one of the new places to see in Doha through food right now, especially around the Corniche and the newer dining districts. Best as an evening walk-and-eat treat rather than a sit-down stop.

Explore the antique store in Al Hilal

Most visitors don’t know this exists, which is part of what makes it special. The antique store in Al Hilal Area Qatar is the largest of its kind in the Gulf, equal parts museum and shop. You can spend an hour walking through curated rooms of old Arabian, Indian, and Persian pieces, or you can leave with something genuinely meaningful.

It’s one of the more unusual things to do in Doha, especially if you want a break from malls and the standard tourist route.

Try Ube at People’s Specialty Coffee

People’s Specialty Coffee has built a quiet but real reputation in the Al Kharaitiyat area, and the calm space, properly trained baristas, and broad menu make it one of the better cafe stops in north Doha. The Ube Dream is the order, ube drinks in Qatar are a recent trend, and this version gets the balance right.

Easy to settle into for a longer afternoon, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to stay longer than planned. One thing that’ll probably catch your eye in the café is the anxious cat painting.

Eat at Danat Albaher in Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif is on every visitor’s itinerary, but most people walk past Danat Albaher Bbq Fish without realising what they’ve missed. It’s a simple dining option, no theatrics, no influencer-led design, just genuinely great Qatari and regional food at honest prices.

This is the kind of place locals send each other to, especially for grilled fish and traditional rice dishes. Go for lunch when the souq is quieter and order what the staff recommend.

And if you’re planning a full day around the area, pairing it with a guided experience like Explore Doha: Souq Waqif, Katara, and Pearl-Qatar makes the whole route feel a lot easier to enjoy without planning every stop yourself.

Visit Majra Alsail Park in Qetaifan Island

One of the new tourist spots in Doha, and one of the more thoughtfully designed parks in the city. Majra Alsail spreads out across Qetaifan Island North with green areas, a water canal, walking tracks, and a kids’ playground that’s actually built for play rather than show.

It’s a strong morning or late afternoon spot, especially in cooler months, and an easy addition to any Lusail-area day.

Enjoy a workshop with FH Crafts

FH Crafts offers one of the more unique things to do in Doha if you’re looking for something slower and more personal. They organise private embroidery workshops at the café or seaside spot you choose, so the whole experience feels more flexible and personal rather than tied to one location.

You can settle in with a drink, order food, look out at the water, and spend a couple of relaxed hours learning embroidery in a setting that feels more like a catch-up than a class. It works equally well as a friends’ afternoon, a quieter family activity, or even a solo reset when you want to do something creative without rushing through it.

Taste the new Lebanese Bakery wave

The Lebanese bakery is one of the most talked-about new food trends in Qatar right now. Doha now has a serious cluster of bakeries serving manakeesh, fresh sandwiches, kaak, and full Lebanese breakfast spreads with the atmosphere of a Beirut neighbourhood bakery.

It’s become one of the more talked-about food trends in the city, especially for slow weekend mornings.

Experience Karak Mahil by the sea

Karak is everywhere in Qatar, but Karak Mahil takes the format and adds a sea view, a stronger food menu, and a setting that turns a quick stop into a longer evening. The karak itself holds up, but the food is the surprise.

One of the more relaxed seaside spots when you want something casual by the water without overplanning the night.

Go Fishing at Old Doha Port

This is one of the genuinely different experiences in the city right now. Silver Fish at Old Doha Port runs guided fishing experiences in a calm setting that works equally well as a solo activity or a quieter outing with friends.

You don’t need prior experience, the gear is provided, and the location gives you a completely different view of the city.

Reset at Ozen Spa

Some trips need a reset day, and Ozen Spa is one of the better places in Doha to take one. The hammam experience is the highlight, proper traditional treatment, not a watered-down version, and the massage menu goes deep enough to suit different moods and needs.

The whole space feels separated from the city in the best way, making it a good option when you need a slower afternoon.
