If you’ve ever spent more time writing an Instagram caption than choosing the pics, there’s some good news. After years of requests from users, Instagram finally gave carousel posts the upgrade they deserved. The new feature lets you add separate captions to every slide in a carousel post.

Now every photo or video in your carousel can come with a proper description. Dropping a concert dump? Add the name of each song in the caption. Posting post-vacay pics? You can mention each location separately, and the caption will appear right under the matching slide.

Carousel posts support up to 20 slides, and now every one of them can have its own caption. If you’d rather stick to the old format, single caption remains the default option.

To use the new feature, simply switch to multiple captions while creating your carousel and add different text to each slide.

The feature is perfect for travel photo dumps, event highlights, tutorials, product launches, fashion collections, restaurant menus, and before-and-after posts. It also means less text added directly onto photos and fewer extra-long captions underneath the carousel.

Such a small update, but big win for anyone who loves and uses carousel posts.
