Planning a weekend with the kids? Take them to one of Dubai’s most unusual theatre experiences this June. The Hive Theatre Festival invites everyone to watch free performances of beloved children’s stories in Al Quoz. Best of all, the stars of the show are children themselves.
Behind The Hive is a community of 20 employees, 40 teen volunteers, and freelancers who share a love for theatre. Together, they create the costumes and performances that fill the festival programme.
- Matilda (June 12, 14, and 19-21), the beloved story of a brilliant young girl who discovers her confidence while standing up to the fearsome Miss Trunchbull
- Alivebrary (June 13), where a librarian and two young readers try to save their local library. Along the way, familiar book characters leap off the pages to lend a helping hand
- The Seussification of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (June 28), a playful retelling of Shakespeare’s classic comedy, complete with rhymes, quirky creatures, magical mix-ups, and plenty of laughs
Admission is free, and if a particular play catches your eye, head to @liveathive on Instagram for the details.
