If your child plays Roblox, here’s the update many parents have been waiting for. The popular gaming platform has launched two special account types for kids under 16: Roblox Kids and Roblox Select.
Before a game appears in these kids accounts, Roblox checks it closely. By default, games with sensitive issues, social hangouts and free-form drawing features are excluded. Chat settings and parent controls then depend on the child’s age and account type.
Let’s see what’s inside Roblox Kids and Roblox Select.
Roblox Kids
Roblox Kids is for children 5 to 8.

For this age group, Roblox keeps the game list small and limited to titles with Minimal or Mild content labels. Chat is switched off by default.
Roblox Select
Roblox Select is for players 9 to 15.
This account can include games rated up to Moderate, as long as they pass Roblox’s review process. Chat access depends on the player’s age and location.
For UAE users: Roblox chat remains unavailable for users of all ages.
What Changes for Parents
Parents get more control when they link a parent account to a child’s Roblox account:
- View gameplay activity
- Check friend lists
- Adjust communication settings and manage direct chat
- Set screen time limits
- Manage spending limits
- Block specific games and approve individual games

Some parental controls will now stay available until a child turns 16, including specific game blocking and direct chat management.
Roblox has already faced restrictions in the region. Saudi Arabia previously blocked more than 300,000 Roblox games to protect kids, while Egypt fully blocked the platform. Qatar, Oman and Kuwait have also blocked or restricted Roblox over child safety and age-appropriate content concerns.
With Roblox Kids and Roblox Select now adding stricter game lists, chat limits and parent controls, the big question is simple: could these changes help Roblox return in more MENA countries?
