Oman has introduced new rules for foreign property owners and investors, removing one of the biggest hurdles in the process: the need for a local sponsor.

Here’s what that means:

  • You can apply for residency without relying on an Omani citizen or company to sponsor you
  • Your first-degree family members can be included
  • Companies that own property in Oman can also secure residency for their representatives
  • No need to wait for property registration to be completed

For buyers whose registration is still in progress, visas can be issued for six months to one year and renewed when needed. Visa holders can stay in Oman for up to three months per visit.

One important thing to keep in mind: residency remains linked to the property. If the ownership changes, the residency ends for both the owner and accompanying family members.
