If you’ve been wondering whether Muscat will eventually get a metro, the plan has just taken another step forward. Oman and France have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on developing the Muscat Metro.

The first metro line will stretch for about 55 km and have the following stops:

  • Sultan Haitham City (western terminus)
  • Muscat International Airport
  • Ghala
  • Al Khuwair
  • Ruwi (eastern terminus)
Sultan Haitham City

The network is expected to include around 42 stations, including seven interchange stations where passengers will be able to transfer between metro lines.

More details about construction timelines and future phases of Muscat Metro have not yet been announced.
