If you’re planning a family day or a weekend break around theme parks in Abu Dhabi, you’ve probably already worked out that Yas Island answers most of the questions. Four world-class parks within walking distance of each other, and a handful of smaller picks elsewhere in the city worth knowing about.

Here’s the honest version of what each park does best, who it suits, and how to plan the trip so everyone in the group ends the day happy.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

The headline thrill park on Yas Island, and still the one most adults specifically come for. Formula Rossa is the world’s fastest roller coaster, and the rest of the lineup keeps pace, Flying Aces, Turbo Track, and a properly themed F1 simulator section. The indoor zones matter more than people expect, half the park is air-conditioned, which keeps Ferrari World workable even in peak summer when the others struggle.

Best for older kids, teens, and adults who came for the speed. If you’re bringing younger kids along, plan a shorter visit and pair it with Warner Bros. World next door, that combination covers everyone in the group nicely. Between you and me, the morning is when Formula Rossa is at its best, the queues stay short for the first ninety minutes before the day-pass crowd catches up. Weekday visits are the smarter pick if your schedule allows.

Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi

The world’s largest indoor theme park, and the most family-friendly pick across the four. Six themed zones, DC heroes, Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, and a Cartoon Junction zone built for younger kids. Warner Bros. World is the right answer for mixed-age groups. The indoor air-con means you can comfortably stay from open to close in any season, which makes it especially easy in the hotter months.

The Batman: Knight Flight ride and the Justice League dark ride are the headlines for older kids. Tom and Jerry: Swiss Cheese Spin and the Cartoon Junction zone keep the younger ones genuinely busy. If you’re travelling with grandparents, this is the easiest park to navigate, plenty of seating, predictable temperature, and the food court is one of the better ones across all four parks. A safe pick that earns its reputation.

Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi

The headline among water parks in Abu Dhabi, and consistently rated one of the best water parks in the world. Forty-plus rides, the Dawwama tornado slide that genuinely lives up to the hype, the Bandit Bomber suspended coaster, and the Jebel Drop near-vertical freefall. The Emirati cultural theming is properly done, the architecture, the storyline running through the park (The Legend of the Lost Pearl), and the small heritage details across each zone make it feel like more than just a water park.

October through May is when Yas Waterworld is at its absolute best, the cooler months mean shorter queues for shaded slides and more comfortable downtime between rides. If you’re visiting in summer, go for an early morning slot and plan around the indoor and shaded sections. Bring proper swimwear, no metal zippers or buckles allowed for safety. The cabanas are worth it on a busy day if you can stretch the budget, otherwise grab sunbeds before 10am.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi

The newest addition to Yas Island, and a different kind of day out from the others. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is the first SeaWorld park without orcas, and the focus is genuinely on marine education and conservation rather than traditional shows. Eight themed marine realms, more than 100,000 animals across 150 species, and a 25-million-litre aquarium with a 360-degree walkthrough tunnel that does the work for itself.

A great fit for families with younger kids who’d find a thrill park overwhelming, and for anyone who’d rather walk and learn than queue and ride. The Manta rollercoaster is the surprise, the rest of the park looks educational on paper but the coaster genuinely earns the ticket. Plan around feeding times, which are when the experience properly peaks.

CLYMB Abu Dhabi

The indoor adventure pick on Yas Island, often missed in the main four-park conversation. CLYMB houses the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall and the largest indoor skydiving flight chamber, both run with proper instructors and beginner-friendly programmes. Sessions are short, an hour or two, which makes CLYMB the right add-on rather than a full-day commitment.

Made for teens, active adults, and anyone who’s already done the four main parks and wants something new. Pairs especially well with a Yas Mall stop or a Warner Bros. World morning, since they’re all within a five-minute walk. If you’ve been looking for something different on Yas Island, this is the one most people overlook.

Fun Works at Yas Mall Abu Dhabi

The smaller indoor pick. Fun Works is a multi-level family entertainment centre inside Yas Mall, arcade games, a bowling alley, a small ropes course, and a play zone for younger kids. Smaller in scale than the major theme parks, which makes it the right answer for a rainy afternoon, a school-holiday gap, or a younger sibling who’s not quite tall enough for the headline rides yet.

Two hours is the sweet spot. The pricing runs per-attraction or as a wristband, and the wristband only really pays off if you’re committing to bowling and the ropes course alongside the arcade. Easy to drop into, easy to leave, no full-day commitment needed.

Murjan Splash Park Abu Dhabi

The budget-friendly water park option, on Hudayriyat Island rather than Yas. Murjan Splash Park is smaller, simpler, and meaningfully cheaper than Yas Waterworld, with slides, splash zones, and a wave pool. The right pick for families with younger kids who’d find Yas Waterworld too big to manage, for visitors on a tighter budget, or for residents who want a regular waterpark routine without the bigger-ticket commitment.

The food and beverage options are simpler than Yas, but the surrounding Hudayriyat development means there are good cafes and restaurants nearby to extend the day. A solid pick once you know what it’s for.

Xtreme Park Abu Dhabi

The newest indoor adventure pick in Abu Dhabi, and a strong addition to the family lineup off Yas Island. Xtreme Park is built around active play across multiple zones, trampolines, ninja and obstacle courses, climbing walls, foam pits, and dedicated soft-play areas for younger kids. The whole space is air-conditioned, which makes it a reliable answer for a hot afternoon when outdoor parks aren’t an option.

A great fit for kids who need to burn off real energy, mixed-age siblings (the soft-play zone runs alongside the more challenging courses), and birthday parties or group outings. Two to three hours is the sweet spot, longer if your kids are deep in the obstacle-course zone. Socks are required, the park sells branded grip socks at reception if you forget yours, which most people do the first time.
