Historic Cairo is about to get a very different kind of vibe. A huge new lifestyle and entertainment destination called Citadel Plaza will rise on on Mokattam Hill beside Salah Al-Din Citadel, overlooking one of the city’s oldest districts.
Plans for this 60,000 sqm project include hotels, restaurants, cinemas, shopping areas, and entertainment spaces.
If you’re worried about a huge plaza not blending well with the historic buildings around the Citadel, the team behind the project says the design takes inspiration from the surrounding areas to help the complex fit more naturally into the scenery.
Developers expect Phase 1 to finish by the end of 2027. The destination is scheduled for completion by the end of 2029.
