If you’re driving in Dubai this Friday, February 21, you’ll want to plan ahead. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a major traffic alert due to the UAE Tour 2025. Roads across the city will be temporarily closed to allow cyclists to complete the race, causing possible delays throughout the afternoon.

Dubai will host Stage 5 of the UAE Tour, an international cycling race, on Friday, February 21. The race begins at 12:30 PM from the American University in Dubai, covering a 160 km route that passes through several key roads before ending at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University.

To ensure the safety of both cyclists and drivers, some of Dubai’s busiest roads will be closed for short intervals (about 10 to 15 minutes) as racers pass through. In total, 18 major roads will experience closures or delays until 4:30 PM.

If you usually commute through these areas, expect delays or detours:

  • Sheikh Zayed Road
  • Al Naseem Street
  • First Al Khail Street
  • Al Jamayel Street
  • Al Asayel Street
  • Al Khail Road
  • Al Fay Street
  • Hessa Street
  • Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street

And that’s not all — here are more roads closures to watch out for this Friday, February 21:

  • Al Qudra Street
  • Saih Al Salam Street
  • Tripoli Street
  • Rebat Street
  • Nad Al Hamar Road
  • Ras Al Khor Road
  • Al Meydan Road
  • Dubai to Al Ain Road

Authorities recommend allowing extra time for your journey or using alternative routes to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

If you think the weekend will bring relief, road disruptions won’t end with the UAE Tour! Another major cycling event, the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge, is happening on Sunday, February 23. Check all the road closures planned for this race, so drivers should stay updated on traffic conditions.
