Dubai has recently announced a 54km expansion in public beaches to make the surrounding blue waters more accessible to the people.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai, unveiled plans to develop new public beach areas on Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Jumeirah, two iconic islands, and Al Mamzar in the first phase of expansion.
Taking to his Twitter, Sheikh Mohammed shared, “Within the Dubai Urban Plan, we have adopted the development and doubling of public beaches by 400% by 2040, which will increase its area from 21km now to 105km and raise the percentage of services by 300% on public beaches by 2025,”
The public beach expansion project, spearheaded by the Dubai Municipality, will transform vast stretches of coastline into vibrant and inclusive spaces, catering to the diverse needs of visitors. These developments align with Dubai’s overarching vision of creating a sustainable and people-centric city.
The initiative aims to enrich Dubai’s coastal landscape further, offering residents and tourists alike an array of world-class beachfront experiences.

Similarly, Palm Jumeirah will witness the creation of expansive public beaches. The project aims to open up exclusive sections of the island’s shoreline to the public, ensuring that everyone can relish the beauty of this man-made wonder.
The development will boast an array of amenities, such as shaded areas, jogging tracks, and beachside cafes, creating a welcoming environment for individuals and families to indulge in beachside leisure.
Al Mamzar Beach will also see a massive expansion, including a 4,000-metre cycling track. 9 percent of the beach will be allocated for night swimming this year and will expand further over time.
