Get ready for a swift ride through the Dubai skyline, because flying taxis are coming to town, offering a quick 10-minute trip between some of Dubai’s busiest spots. Thanks to a cool collaboration between Dubai’s transport authority, JOBY Aviation, and Skyports Infrastructure, these flying taxis are set to change how we get around the city.
Where They’ll Start
These flying marvels will start from four places: Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. These spots will serve as the take-off and landing pads for these futuristic rides. And in the future, they might even take you to Abu Dhabi.
When Can You Go?
We’re counting down the days until these flying taxis hit the skies, aiming for a debut by late 2025. Testing is happening now in California and soon here in the UAE. Once they’re good to go, you’ll be able to book a ride just like you book an Uber.
Affordable and Easy
Surprisingly, flying won’t break the bank! The goal is to keep prices similar to an Uber Black ride but get you to your destination way faster. Imagine zipping from DXB to Palm Jumeirah in just 10 minutes instead of nearly an hour by car.
Safe and Green
Safety is a top priority. With six rotors keeping these taxis steady, you can feel secure during your flight. Plus, they’re electric, so they won’t pollute the air. And they’ll be quieter than helicopters, too.
The flight will carry four passengers and a pilot and will touch a speed of up to 200 miles per hour.
What’s Next
Dubai’s skyline will soon be dotted with flying taxis, making travel around the city smoother than ever. With plans for a big fleet, these taxis will keep the sky clear and traffic-free. Get ready, Dubai—it’s time to take off into the future of transportation!
