The start of Eid Al Fitr depends on the sighting of the crescent moon, which will be observed this Saturday, March 29. If the moon is spotted, Eid begins on Sunday, March 30. If not, Ramadan continues for another day, and Eid starts on Monday, March 31. Here’s where you can get the best view of the crescent moon in Dubai this weekend.
Jebel Ali Beach
Watch the moon rise over the sea while enjoying an evening picnic at Jebel Ali Beach. Parking is available if you prefer to watch from your car.
Kite Beach
One of Dubai’s most popular beaches, Kite Beach is open at night, making it a convenient spot for moon sighting. Grab a bite at one of the nearby restaurants if you prefer a dining experience over a picnic.
The Viewing Point
For a cityscape backdrop, The Viewing Point at Dubai Creek offers a stunning panoramic view of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa. While you can’t set up a picnic here, you can walk along the harbor where seating is available.
Al Barsha Pond Park
If you prefer a relaxed stroll under the night sky, this park is a great choice. It stays open late, so you’ll have plenty of time to search for the moon.
Open on weekends until 11 PM
Al Qudra Lakes
For a peaceful sky-gazing experience, head to Al Qudra Lakes. Far from city lights, it offers a clear view of the night sky. Bring a picnic or visit the nearby Last Exit Al Qudra for food truck options.
Hatta
A short drive from Dubai, Hatta offers a scenic escape with opportunities for moon gazing. While some light pollution exists, it’s still a great place to catch a glimpse of the crescent moon. Camping spots are also available if you plan to stay overnight.
The UAE Council for Fatwa has asked residents to look for the crescent moon on Saturday evening. If you spot it, you can report your sighting to the Shawwal Crescent Moon Sighting Committee by calling 027774647 or filling out an online form. You’ll need to provide your full name, emirate, Emirates ID, mobile number, and any details about your observation.
