Dubai is adding a major green space to its growing urban landscape. A new 10-hectare nature reserve is under construction as part of the Expo Valley development, located within Expo City Dubai. The project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026 and will be part of a gated residential community designed around natural surroundings.
The site will feature over 1,000 trees, including native and adaptive species like acacia and ghaf, both known for their resilience in the UAE’s climate. All trees will be cultivated and maintained at an on-site nursery. These species were selected specifically for their durability and long-term growth potential.

The project is being handled by landscaping contractor Proscape, which is responsible for the full scope of development — from land grading to lake construction, irrigation systems, and core infrastructure.
This green space is part of a larger urban planning strategy that prioritises recreational and social spaces. According to Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer at Expo City Dubai, the reserve is designed to support biodiversity while offering a peaceful environment for residents.

Expo Valley Nature Reserve reflects the sustainability goals that were laid out during Expo 2020 Dubai and continue to shape future development in the area.
This isn’t the only nature-focused project in the city. Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is also set for a major upgrade, with birdwatching towers, cycling tracks, and walking trails to be created. It’s expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Keep an eye out for more ways to enjoy green spaces in Dubai as the city balances modern living with ecological planning.
