Ever wondered what it would be like to fly over city traffic? You don’t have to wait for the future — Dubai’s Museum of the Future is showcasing a full-scale prototype of an aerial taxi.
Developed by Joby Aviation in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this electric flying taxi is designed for quick, eco-friendly city travel. You can see it up close on the ‘Tomorrow, Today’ floor of the museum, where Dubai’s bold vision for autonomous transport is on display.

The city aims for 25% of all trips to be powered by self-driving vehicles by 2030, and this flying taxi is a key part of that goal. It runs on electricity, produces zero emissions, and can take off and land vertically (VTOL). With space for four passengers and a pilot, it can reach speeds of up to 322 km/h and travel as far as 161 km on a single charge.
Dubai isn’t the only city in the UAE preparing for air taxis. Abu Dhabi is set to launch its own service by late 2025, with Archer Aviation’s aerial taxis offering quick urban trips at competitive prices. A short flight within the city is expected to cost AED 300-350, while a trip between Abu Dhabi and Dubai could range from AED 800-1,500 — turning what’s usually a long car ride into a fast, scenic journey through the skies.
Want to see the future of transportation for yourself? Visit the Museum of the Future and get an exclusive first look at the aerial taxi revolution. The museum is open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM. Tickets start from AED 159.
