For the first time, golf is joining the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) in an exciting new initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness through the sport. In a groundbreaking collaboration between The R&A, the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), and local golf hubs, a special program called Golf Is Good x Dubai Fitness Challenge will be launched.
As part of this initiative and a month-long fitness celebration, Dubai residents will have the opportunity to engage in 135 golf-related activities across nine venues.
These include free golf lessons, practice sessions, state-of-the-art simulators, and a unique evening community walk at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai Hills Golf Club, and Top Golf Dubai. This initiative is aimed at introducing golf to newcomers while promoting it as a powerful tool for health improvement. According to research by The R&A, golf can significantly lower the risk of chronic diseases, enhance longevity, and combat loneliness — a key health factor, especially in older adults.
New Highlights for 2024
- The EGF will extend the Unleash Your Drive program to schools, introducing young students to golf and emphasizing its health benefits.
- Taking place during the DP World Tour Championship, mini golf sixes competition will allow participants to experience golf in a new, exciting way.
- Community evening walks at the scenic Jumeirah Golf Estates encourage physical activity and promote community engagement.
The initiative aligns with the mission of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which encourages people to dedicate 30 minutes to physical activity daily for 30 days. The R&A is especially keen to showcase the health benefits of golf, which range from reducing loneliness to preventing over 40 chronic diseases, making it ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels.
