Electric vehicles are already a common sight on Dubai roads compared to just a few years ago, and the city is adding more places to charge them. A new agreement between the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and Emarat EV Charging Stations Company brings charging stations to mosque parking areas in the city.

Drivers will be able to charge their cars while visiting nearby mosques. The plan includes installation, maintenance, performance monitoring, and smart payment systems. The agreement spans eight years, with the option to extend.

A mobile app will show nearby charging points in real time, so you can check availability before you head over.

If you park near mosques in Dubai, keep in mind that parking is only free for one hour during prayer time. Outside those hours, the same spaces operate as 24/7 paid zones.

Mosque parking isn’t the only place getting the upgrade. Dubai Municipality has announced plans for EV supercharging stations in 600 public parking spaces. The locations include parks, beaches, and other recreational areas.
