Dubai’s ambitious Palm Jebel Ali is rapidly transforming from a blueprint into reality. Twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, this massive artificial island has been in the works since 2002. However, recent years have seen a major push to bring the long-awaited project to life.
A recent drone video demonstrates the progress, revealing just how much work on Palm Jebel Ali has already been done.

At a glance, Palm Jebel Ali may remind you of its older sibling, Palm Jumeirah, but it comes with a larger crescent and a sprawling 110-kilometer coastline. Once complete, the island will host 80 hotels and resorts, adding a fresh wave of luxury dining, entertainment, and leisure options to Dubai’s already vibrant scene.
Building Palm Jebel Ali is a challenging project — it required over 10 million tonnes of rock and an enormous volume of sand, limestone, and other materials to shape the seven interconnected islands.
Right now, the first villas are under construction, marking the beginning of what will soon be a thriving community. The plan is to welcome the first residents by 2027.

When the first phase of villa sales opened in 2023, demand was overwhelming, with properties selling out in record time. These homes, designed by six leading architectural firms, range from 8,000 to 15,000 square feet and boast stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.
To help future residents connect before moving in, Dubai Holding and developer Nakheel have been organizing social events, including exclusive community brunches. The first gathering took place at Summersalt Beach Club, offering homeowners a chance to meet their soon-to-be neighbors.
With construction in full swing and anticipation building, Palm Jebel Ali is set to reshape Dubai’s coastline in the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates as this megaproject moves closer to reality.
