The Ramadan Street Food Festival in Karama is back from March 6 to 23, turning Sheikh Hamdan Colony into a paradise for food lovers. With over 55 restaurants serving special Ramadan dishes, plus arts, crafts, and games, it’s a must-visit event. Here’s what this year’s edition brings to the city!
1. A Feast of Street Food
Last year’s festival brought together flavors from India, the Middle East, and beyond. From pani puri and vada pav to pazhamporis and spiced lemon drinks, the choices were endless. Let’s hope for the return of Emirati delights like luqaimat and rigag to complete the experience.

2. Mesmerizing Performers
Expect to see Tanoura dancers spinning in vibrant skirts, stilt walkers glowing with LED lights, and roaming entertainers adding fun to the crowd. Last year, even Aladdin made an appearance on his ‘magic carpet’!
3. Live Street Performances
Music and dance played a huge role in making last year’s festival special. From violinists and guitarists to traditional folk dancers, the streets of Karama turned into a lively cultural hotspot.
4. The Lively Night Market
Even if you’re not here for the food (hard to believe!), the market is worth a visit. Last year featured trendy clothes, artisanal crafts, henna artists, caricature sketchers, and even Ramadan-themed makeovers. A true shopping haven!
5. Mappila Music & Sing-Alongs
Arab-Malayalam Mappila songs filled the air last year, bringing nostalgia and a strong cultural vibe. This mix of Kerala’s musical traditions with Arabic influences made the festival atmosphere even richer.
Mark your calendars for March 6 and get ready to dive into the flavors, sounds, and colors of the Ramadan Street Food Festival in Karama!
