Saudi Arabia has unveiled Sindalah, the first island resort in the NEOM megacity, showcasing its ambitions for sustainable, high-end tourism. This exclusive Red Sea island features 40 restaurants, three luxury hotels, and beach clubs designed to attract travelers and investors. Notably, the island aims to host up to 2,400 daily visitors by 2028, providing world-class experiences with a 5,920-meter golf course, retail outlets featuring 50+ luxury brands, and immersive undersea adventures.
As a unique blend of luxury and eco-friendly planning, Sindalah will also offer various marine activities like snorkeling, yachting, and kayaking, with a yacht club and over 80 docking piers.
Sindalah’s launch coincides with Saudi Arabia’s Future Investment Initiative, popularly known as “Davos in the Desert,” held in Riyadh. The event attracts global investors, fueling conversations around NEOM’s next steps and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. NEOM, known for The Line, its mirrored mega-skyscraper project, is part of Saudi Arabia’s push towards diversifying its economy and positioning itself as a global hub for tourism, green tech, and innovation.
Yet, amid its grandeur, NEOM faces critiques for delays and challenges, such as revised population forecasts and allegations of forced relocations affecting indigenous Huwaitat tribes.
For locals and tourists, Sindalah offers an unparalleled luxury destination that embraces Saudi Arabia’s cultural transformation. Visitors can explore the island’s unique “no-cars” approach, with all key amenities within a five-minute walk. Sindalah thus serves as both a testament to Saudi Arabia’s global tourism ambitions and a vibrant preview of the high-tech, sustainable lifestyle NEOM promises to bring.
