Several museums will also host workshops, exhibitions, guided tours, and live performances:
- May 15 at Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn): Guided tours, “Cultural Bridges at Sharjah Fort” workshops, and live music performances
- May 16 at Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization: Museum tours, the “Weaving Civilisations” workshop, and a panel discussion titled “Museums: Bridges of Dialogue and Humanity”
- May 16 to 18 at Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization: “Between the Lines” exhibition featuring works by more than 23 artists, including artists with disabilities
- May 17 at Sharjah Maritime Museum: Guided tours, “Seas Unite Us” workshop, sign-language tours, and a mobile photography workshop under the theme “A Generation United Through Maritime Heritage”
Whether you’re into science, heritage, archaeology, and marine life, you can easily turn May 18 into a full museum-hopping plan.
International Museum Day takes place every May and has been celebrated for nearly 50 years. The 2026 theme, “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” focuses on connection through culture, history, science, and shared experiences. More than 140 countries take part in this event.
