Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a set of temporary traffic diversions in Mirdif, linked to the start of construction on the Dubai Metro Blue Line. RTA encourages all road users to plan their trips in the area in advance and allow extra travel time while the diversions remain in place.

The changes are part of early works for the Dubai Metro Blue Line, a major infrastructure project that will serve approximately one million residents by 2040.

Key traffic changes in Mirdif:

  • The roundabout at the intersection of 5th Street and 8th Street, near City Centre Mirdif, is closed
  • Traffic from 5th Street is now being redirected to 8th Street toward City Centre Mirdif
  • Traffic from 8th Street is being diverted to 5th Street, heading toward Algeria Street
  • A new access road has been created to help visitors reach the mall’s parking area
  • A U-turn near Ghoroob Square has been introduced to support traffic coming from City Centre Mirdif Street, offering easier access for residents

The upcoming Blue Line of Dubai Metro will support the city’s “20-minute city” goal — ensuring essential services and destinations are accessible within a 20-minute trip using public transport.

The route will feature 14 stations and serve several key communities across Dubai. Once operational, the Blue Line will link up with existing Dubai Metro routes:

  • Green Line at Creek Interchange Station in Al Jaddaf
  • Red Line at Centrepoint Station

As construction progresses, keep an eye out for more updates on the Dubai Metro Blue Line, including the locations of all stations — and don’t miss the chance to see the first visuals of Emaar Properties Metro Station, set to become the highest elevated metro station in the world.
