Driving through one of Dubai’s busiest roads just got a lot easier. Thanks to a new upgrade by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), travel times on Sheikh Zayed Road near major landmarks like Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall have been cut in half.

A key improvement is the addition of a new lane on the service road near Financial Centre Metro Station, heading towards Abu Dhabi. The road now has four lanes instead of three, allowing more cars to move smoothly. This change increases the road’s capacity by 25%, handling up to 3,200 vehicles per hour instead of 2,400.

As a result, drivers can expect less congestion and shorter waiting times. What used to be a five-minute journey now takes just two minutes.

Another major change affects traffic merging between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street. The merging distance has been extended, giving drivers more space to join the main road safely. This improvement alone has cut journey times by 25%.

Sheikh Zayed Road is one of Dubai’s main highways, used daily by thousands of commuters and businesses. The new road upgrades aim to make travel faster, reduce frustration, and improve the overall driving experience in the city.
